Frustration

The house title mess still hasn't been cleared up. It looks like Chase Manhattan Mortgage and Evergreen Title Company really screwed up. Chase apparently never sent the lien release, and Evergreen evidentally never followed up. What's more, Chase has been astoundingly unhelpful in resolving this problem. We first contacted Chase with everything they needed on the 21st of July. It took them *5* days to even start processing the request. That's right, they didn't start processing the request until the 26th. And now they say it'll take 5 business days from the 26th in order to get everything settled. Unfortunately, closing is scheduled for the morning of Aug 2nd, so things aren't looking terribly optimistic. And they don't care. I've called and complained. Mike's called and complained. Our current title company (Tradewinds) has been extremely involved, and our realtor has gotten involved. Now, things are looking better than they were last week -- last week Chase was telling me it would take 30 days to hunt down the paperwork because it's "so old." So old. This is for a refinance that happened in 1999. That's right, 6 years ago. For a house. 6 years for a home mortgage is NOT that long.

Grr. Anyway, I'm practicing not caring.

I went to lunch yesterday with some old coworkers. It was nice, I need to do that more often.
